So crisp is the air that it bites at your toes
It's time to prepare all the logs and the coals
Then sit by the fire looking out at the snow

Red green blue and yellow lights that sparkle through frosted glass
Dancing away as the church choir nears
Singing door to door carols, hot chocolate in plastic flasks
I've never known a better time of year

I've embraced the Summer and enjoyed the sun
Admired the first tulips of Spring
And I still love the colours and smells of Autumn
But there's so much more this season brings

Reflections in baubles of excited faces
Stockings and wreaths hanging on fireplaces
Tinsel and ornaments crammed in all places
I've never known a better time of year

Hot mugs of Gluevine warm up your hands
On the old festive markets with nowhere to stand
And we all sway together to the local brass band
No I've never known a better time of year

Last minute shopping for extra's in stockings
And way to much food and way to much cooking
Presents need wrapping the cards all need writing
Who puts the star on the tree they're all fighting
Lists for the booze, lists for the toys
Lists for the good little girls and the boys
List upon list coming out of my ears ...

But still ... I've never known a better time of year!
